OK, so now you’ve got a human hair straight weave, bonding or plaits..........
what’s next?
What’s next, is good aftercare so that you can continue to enjoy your new hairstyle for as long as possible. Follow these guidelines to help you really enjoy your new style.
- Brush the hair thoroughly paying particular attention to the nape section as friction between hair and clothing can cause matting.
- At night, tie the hair down with a silk scarf or suitable hair net. Don’t go to bed with the hair loose as it can cause tangling and will make brushing the next morning very difficult.
- Don’t swim in sea water or a pool with your extensions as this can cause the hair to tangle. If you really must swim, then be sure to completely enclose the hair and keep it dry.
- Allow 10-14 days before giving your hair it’s first wash. Always brush hair thoroughly prior to washing it.
- Don’t wash the hair upside down, rather stand in a shower or sit in a bath.
- Use a spray shampoo or mix a good shampoo with water in a cup or spray bottle. Rinse well with clean water and repeat until the hair is clean. Do be gentle with the hair and don’t roughen it too much as this may cause tangling.
- Apply a good conditioner to the hair and not the scalp as conditioner will lodge in the weave or plait and it will appear unwashed when it is dried.
- Rinse out the conditioner thoroughly, still being gentle with the hair.
- If blow drying, ensure that the root section (for weaves or wrap hair) is properly dried.
- If preferred, set hair.
- Style hair as desired.
- Use a good hair polisher mist or serum (such as Fantasia IC) to maintain the hair.
- Do enjoy your hair!
